Recently I had a chance to sit down and chat with the pastor of a church based out of Ohio, he shared the story of a congregant from that church, the man had been harboring a dark secret. For years, he had battled a crippling addiction to pornography that had spiraled out of control. What began as casual browsing had descended into the disturbing realm of child pornography, a heinous crime that had gone undetected.
One day, the FBI arrived at the pastor's door with a chilling message. They had uncovered the man's illicit activities and wanted to know more about his involvement with the church. Although he had no direct contact with minors from the congregation, the FBI's sobering statement served as a stark warning: we are all just three clicks away from committing a felony.
The gravity of these words is deeply felt, even now. This serves as a stark reminder that the internet's accessibility has lulled many into a false sense of security. The line between innocuous browsing and criminal behavior has become dangerously blurred. We must never fail to recognize the perils that lurk just a few mouse clicks away. Seeking help before we too fall victim to addiction or inappropriate online behavior is crucial. This is a somber wake-up call - a stark reminder that in the digital age, none of us are truly immune to the temptations and pitfalls that can lead down a path of destruction.
