Life is like a cup of coffee

You're holding a cup of coffee when someone accidentally bumps into you, causing you to spill it everywhere.

Why did the coffee spill?

"Because someone bumped into me!!!"

Not at all.

The coffee spilled because there was coffee in your cup. If it had been water, then water would have spilled. What’s inside the cup is what comes out.

Similarly, when life shakes us (and it inevitably will), what’s inside us will emerge. It’s easy to put on a façade until we’re jolted.

So we should ask ourselves: “What’s in my cup?” When faced with challenges, what spills over?

Is it joy, gratitude, peace, and humility?

Or is it anger, bitterness, a victim mentality, and a tendency to give up?

Life gives us the cup, but YOU decide how to fill it.

Let’s commit today to filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation, resilience, positivity, and a spirit of kindness, gentleness, and love for others.

Take what you like and leave the rest.
